China's Central Bank to Investigate Solana's Advertising Campaign in Shanghai's Lujiazui District An official from the People's Bank of China (PBOC) said authorities recently discovered that Solana had placed advertisements in Shanghai's Lujiazui financial district through domestic entities, using brand promotion to market cryptocurrencies. The PBOC, together with local financial regulators, police, and market supervision authorities, has halted the planned Solana Accelerate China 2026 events in Shanghai and other cities and will investigate the entities and individuals involved. The official stated that Solana's promotional activities violated the notice issued by eight Chinese authorities in February 2026 on preventing and addressing risks related to cryptocurrencies. The PBOC will continue targeting domestic cryptocurrency trading businesses and China-based affiliates of overseas cryptocurrency issuance and trading platforms.
